Established in 1964, San Diego Mensa is one of the oldest local groups in the United States. We currently have over 800 members, living all over San Diego and Imperial Counties.
Mensa is an international society in which the sole qualification for membership is a score at or above the 98th percentile on any of a number of standard IQ tests. Mensa is a not-for-profit society whose sole purpose is to serve as a means of communication and assembly for its members. Mensa holds no opinions, supports no causes, and is not affiliated in any way with any other organization.
As a practical matter, this means that most of our activities are designed so that we benefit by having fun. Many of these happenings are detailed on our Local Event Calendar. One of our annual highlights is the Regional Gathering. Details are available on the Regional Gathering page.
We are also public-service oriented and participate in activities that benefit the local community, such as our association with "Read San Diego" and our Greater San Diego Science & Engineering Fair awards.
